Chimeras

Stats and Effects

Chimeras have 5 different stats: HP, STR, Mana, INT, and Equipment slot. While all chimeras have HP, STR, and Equipment slot, not all of them have Mana or INT stats.

Hit Points

HP determines how much damage a chimera can take. Each point of damage dealt to a chimera reduces its current HP by 1. There are several ways to heal injured chimeras, such as eating certain berries or the effects of some equipment, but a chimera's current HP cannot exceed its maximum HP stat. If a chimera's HP reaches 0, it is KO'd (Knocked Out) and cannot participate in fights until revived. Chimeras do not automatically heal or revive in between battles.

Strength

STR determines how much damage a chimera deals when it attacks. The most common usage of STR is using attack actions to deal damage equal to your leader's STR to the opponent leader's HP. Some effects and actions also scale off of STR, which they specify in their descriptions.

Mana

Mana determines how many times a chimera can use a spell effect. When the trigger for a chimera's effect is "SPELL", it can be used manually once per turn by clicking on the chimera. Each use reduces that chimera's Mana by 1. If it has no Mana remaining then the effect can no longer be used. Unlike HP, Mana resets each combat and can be increased beyond the base stat during combat. Note that rather than using Mana, enemies use spell effects via the Spell die face.

Intelligence

INT determines the power of chimeras' effects. Chimeras only have an INT stat if their effect uses that number. Increasing a chimera's INT, such as with equipment or the charge action, increases the number used in that chimera's effect.

Equipment Slots

Equipment slot determine how many individual equipment items a chimera can use at a time. Unlike the other stats, Equipment slot do not vary between chimeras. All chimeras have 1 Equipment slot by default and can increase up to a limit of 5.

Effects

In addition to their stats, each chimera also has an effect. Effects consist of a trigger condition and a result; when the condition is met, the result occurs. Effects can be triggered by a variety of events, such as starting a turn, rotation, or attacking, with an even wider variety of results. While most effects are automatic, spell effects are used manually by clicking on the chimera once per turn at the cost of Mana. Sometimes numbers used in effects are defined by the chimera's INT, rather than being a fixed value.

Physical Details

Each chimera's compendium entry also lists its type, height (in centimeters and feet), and weight (in kilograms and pounds). These stats have no game-mechanical impact.

Iridescent Chimeras

When finding a chimera in a shrine, there is a rare chance that an iridescent version of that chimera will appear. Iridescent chimeras are marked with an asterisk (*) after their names and have unique coloration, sparkly particles around them, and empowered versions of their effects. Once the iridescent version of a chimera is encountered, a button is added to its compendium entry to toggle which version is viewed.
